An integrated system to support the oncology patient
At the Metropolitan General the services provided are integrated and specialized for the investigation, diagnosis, treatment, and supportive dealing with neoplasias. There is individualized application of the most advanced treatments according to international guidelines in the gene and general health profile of every patient as well as on the pathology anatomy and molecular characteristics of the disease in its every phase
The treatment comprises the most modern treatment protocols for administration of chemotherapy schemes, hormonal therapies, immuno therapies, biological treatments, targeted therapies as well as area therapies such chemo-embolism, cauterization of tumours using radio frequencies (RF ablation) or microwaves (microwave ablation), cryo-pyksia of tumors (cryoablation) or/ and combination of the above.
The treatments that do not require several days of stay, are done on the Daily Care of the Clinic, in a convenient and friendly environment, under the supervision of the attending physicians and the well trained and specialized in the needs of the oncology patient hospital staff. In some cases of patients, hospitalization is required for the application of chemotherapy as well as high dosage chemotherapy with autologous stem cell rescue in special conditions, in wards with isolation conditions and high security.
This wholistic treatment is achieved within the close cooperation of the Oncology Clinics, Hematology Oncological Clinics, Surgical Oncology, and the Breast Center of Metropolitan General. Parallel to this there is support from the Central Laboratories, the Pathology-Anatomy Lab, the Medical Imaging, the departments of Invasive Radiology and Neuro-radiology, the Nuclear Medicine department and the Pain Surgery of the Clinic, as well as one of the most modern radio therapy units of the hospital of the Group Hellenic Healthcare.
The medical staff of Metropolitan General has an excellent scientific training and long experience, have dealt with a great number of patients with oncological diseases, a fact which combined with the ongoing medical training ensures the most moder medical treatment. Its presence in international oncology events-conferences with papers, announcements, or publications, as well as the elaboration of research programs either as participants researchers or main researchers, reinforce daily the scientific and clinical completeness for the benefit of the patient.
