Stroke Prevention 

All parameters that may cause transient or permanent brain tissue damage (atheromatosis-lipidemia, carotid stenosis, aneurysm, hypertension, diabetes, and arrhythmia) are thoroughly investigated.

Aneurysms – Intermittent Claudication 

Localized atheromatous plaques obstruct the vessels and so the patient walks some distance and feels pain in the hip muscles, thighs, or calves, due to reduced blood flow. This syndrome is called Intermittent Claudication and requires immediate treatment by vascular surgeon. Typically, aneurysms are dilated vessels, resulting from wall lesions on these vessels. They are detected either accidentally or because of a vessel clot relocating in the vessel periphery which results in acute obstruction of the peripheral vessel, or due to rupture. Timely surgical management prior to rupture can save either lower extremity perfusion or the patient’s life.

Varicose Veins – Thrombophlebitis

In early stages and for a long period of time, varicose veins manifest mild symptomatology, and thus the patient does seek for medical advice. However, varicose veins exhibit three serious complications: thrombosis, indolent ulcer and hemorrhage, which cause serious problems when prior conservative treatment schemes and prevention have proven ineffective.

Recommended preventive measures

• Walking-Workout
• Loss of weight
• Quitting smoking
• Medication

When the varicose veins are attributed to valvular impairment, the removal of the saphenous vein constitutes the best treatment. Varicose veins are often confused with telangiectasia; in in telangiectasia, the problem is merely aesthetic, and many treatment options are available, such as injections, laser, and radio waves.

Lymphedema

The applicable treatment is used- lymphatic drainage massage or medication.
