The METROPOLITAN GENERAL Clinic, in response to the requirements of current business conditions and aiming to provide catering services of high specifications and mainly to distribute top-quality meals, prepared under safe and sanitary hygiene practices, plans and applies a Food Safety Management System (FSMS).
The Food Safety Management System of our Clinic’s Nutrition Department focuses on the patient-customer and providing them with catering services of high specifications. More specifically, the Department establishes procedures with regard to the supply, preparation, production and distribution of meals provided for the needs of patients and the personnel, harmonized with the applicable national and Community legal and regulatory requirements which have been planned in a manner that helps achieve excellent provision of service.,
In particular and through the current "Food Safety Policy”, applying all requirements of the International Standard ELOT ΕΝ ISO 22000:2018 and maintaining high standards of health and safety, the Clinic applies all necessary precautions and explicitly states the following commitments:
- To create partnerships with approved and certified suppliers providing ingredients, with respect towards consumers-end recipients and the environment and with social responsibility with regard to being a part of the supply chain.
- To constantly upgrade the potential of the Nutrition Department, through workshops and training programs, to recruit new, specialized employees and to utilize the above to ensure an improved work environment.
- To constantly improve the FSMS (Food Safety Management System according to ISO 22000:2018) through the following:
- setting measurable food quality and safety goals,
- Administration reviews,
- internal inspections,
- preventive and corrective measures,
- regular data analysis and review of internal system procedures for optimal performance and control of the FSMS,
- analysis and management for all kinds of risks, as described in the Coto Log Risk Analysis compiled by the Administration.
The Clinic’s measurable goals to comply with the above food safety policy are the following:
- Monitoring customer complaints related with the quality and safety of meals provided and achievement of reductions in the number and/or percentage of systemic justified complaints.
- Maintaining lab tests results for ingredients and meals towards zero levels and within the limits provided by the European and Greek legislation.
- Constantly developing an environmentally-friendly policy, in order to reduce environmental footprints (plastic-less) and make sensible use of natural resources, in order to gradually apply zero-waste practices.
- Training personnel on the rules of personal hygiene, personal protective equipment, other good practices and potential risks of processes, before they assume new duties. In addition, training shall be provided according to their fields of activity, based on the results of internal reviews and inspections during their employment.
