Diabetes Control Clinic

The condition is holistically treated and aims beyond simple glucose levels lowering.

It includes:

• Proper control and regular monitoring of all risk factors (e.g. cholesterol, hypertension)
• Complications risk prevention
• Comprehensive medical monitoring in close collaboration with physicians of the medical specialties and Departments at Metropolitan General with extensive experience in diabetes management (such as, Department of Medical Imaging, Hemodynamics Laboratory, Department of Ophthalmology, Department of Ophthalmology). The Department of Interventional Radiology effectively treats almost all diabetes-related problems.
• Individual therapy according to age, lifestyle, profession and education level
• Training on injections and appropriate diet by a special nurse and a dietician
• Psychological support and counseling by specialists to diabetics and their relatives

Diabetic Neuropath Clinic (Pain). The clinic carries out screenings for diabetic neuropathy (Neuropad test, monofilaments) and manages all diabetes- and nervous system-associated problems (Diabetic neuropathic pain, numbness, etc)

Diabetic Foot Clinic: Headed by a Diabetes specialist and in collaboration with a specialized podologist and the assistance of a highly skilled nurse, all kinds of lower extremities problems are addressed (ulcers, infected ulcers, calluses, foot callosity, ingrown toenails-conservative management without total onychectomy, mycoses, hard nails cutting, etc). With the appropriate training-care, as well as with the use of orthoses-orthopedic shoes, all serious foot conditions can be treated.

Hyperlipidemia and Diabetic Vascular Diseases Clinic: With the assistance of the Department of Interventional Radiology and the cooperation of specialized cardiologists and vascular surgeons, difficult cases of hyperlipidemia are controlled and vascular, cardiac, carotid, lower extremities vessels stenoses, etc are managed.

Training

Metropolitan General’s Diabetes Center places great emphasis on the appropriate information and training not only of the diabetic patient so that s/he becomes the clinician of his/herself, but also of his/her family in order to psychologically support the patient and be of assistance in practice.

For this reason, constant training on diabetes management is offered by specialists, and regular training programs on the latest advances in the field of prevention and disease management (therapies, medications, etc) are organized on a regular basis.
