The Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) at Metropolitan General is comparable to respective specialized Centers abroad.

It provides diagnosis and therapeutic management of all ENT (ear, nose, throat, head and neck) and neurologic diseases, i.e. hearing (hearing loss, deafness, tinnitus) and balance (vertigo, abnormal gait) disorders. Also, it investigates and treats snoring and Sleep Apnea patients.

The Department accommodates cutting-edge equipment, well-trained and highly experienced medical and nursing personnel. It is directly supported by the Departments of Pneumonology, Medical Imaging, Neurology, Pathology and Cytology, a fact that guarantees fast and effective patient diagnosis and management.

The tests performed include

Clinical examination of patients with hearing, tinnitus and vertigo problems

Pure-tone audiometry
Tympanography and determination of acoustic reflexes
Auditory brainstem response
Electronystagmography

Moreover, Metropolitan General’s excellently equipped operating rooms facilitate the performance of surgical procedures for diseases involving the salivary glands, ear, nose, oropharynx, throat and neck, as well as endoscopic surgery of the larynx, nose-sinuses, and surgical procedures for the treatment of snoring.

Snoring and Sleep Apnea Laboratory

The Laboratory investigates snoring and Sleep Apnea cases.
Tests carried out include:

Snoring and sleep apnea assessment, both endoscopically and with the MULLER method, as well as with other imaging methods of the obstruction site.
Sleep study (multi-metric sleep recording) in cooperation with the Department of Pulmonology

Vertigo and Balance Disorders Laboratory

Tests carried out include videonystagmography for the diagnosis of labyrinth disorders.
