The objective of the Clinic is to knowledgeably and comprehensively manage and treat ALL cardiac events, starting from simple outpatient consultation to admission of serious cases in the ICU and the performance of all techniques, such as coronary angioplasty, angioplasty, Rotational atherectomy (rotablation), Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), fractional flow reserve (FFR) to invasively estimate the degree of coronary artery stenosis, transesophageal ultrasonography, echo-stress, electrical cardioversion, transcatheter closure of atrial septal defect (ASD) and patent foramen ovale (PFO) for secondary stroke prevention (cerebrovascular event, CVE) and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI, MitraClip System), using of the great potential of Metropolitan General in terms of modern means and infrastructure.
The 1st Cardiology Clinic is staffed by distinguished and experienced scientific personnel. Its physicians have received post-graduate training in universities abroad and constantly attend conferences and workshops. The Clinic publishes articles in authoritative scientific journals in Greece and abroad, and presents papers at scientific conferences. It also participates in international clinical trials.
In 2018, the Clinic organized the 1st Cardiovascular Diseases Workshop with great success. All the latest developments regarding coronary heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, arterial hypertension, anticoagulation, endocarditides, implantation of intracardiac devices, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) implantation, etc, were discussed at the Workshop.
The Clinic cooperates well with the rest Clinics at Metropolitan General to provide full and complete healthcare coverage to patients. All patients and their families are treated with respect; patients receive individualized treatment according to their needs, through the strict observance of the principles of medical ethics and the latest guidelines of the European and American Heart Associations.
