The rapid development of technology allows today's specially trained and constantly evolving Surgeons to perform surgical procedures in less time, safely, with smaller incisions, less pain for the patient, and ultimately better results than in the past.
The 7th Department of Surgery was created with the aim of the most modern, internationally recognized, effective and safe treatment of patients, following the latest principle of healthcare provision, 'patient-centered care'.
It is staffed by experienced and renowed Surgeons with specific training and specializations covering the broadest range of modern Surgery with special emphasis on Minimal Invasive Surgery (endoscopic, laparoscopic, robotic, LASER) and on Colorectal / Anal Surgery
The Director of the Clinic is an internationally certified Colorectal / Orthoretectal Surgeon, and the techniques applied are the most modern and recognized. The 7th Surgical Clinic performs with great results a significant number of interventions for benign and malignant conditions. He specializes in colon cancer and anal disorders (abscess, fistula, hemorrhoids, prolapse), as well as pelvic floor conditions (hernias, incontinence).
Colorectal cancer is mostly treated by laparoscopy or robotics, following international oncology standards, in order to reduce the risk of recurrences and, in accordance with the patient's wishes, to avoid stoma (artificial anus), but also to minimize possible neurological complications leading to incontinence and / or impotence.
In the framework of General Surgery, the most modern procedures are performed for the treatment of hernia (inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia, ventricle, white line after birth, etc.), cholecystectomy, bile duct surgery and sarcoma, performed laparoscopically or robotically.
Particular emphasis is given to anal surgery, following preoperative study and adaptation of techniques to the patient with the aim of the best possible solution that meets the patient's desires and expectations. Perianal abscesses, fistulas, and hemorrhoids are treated with LASER, endoscopy or ultrasound as appropriate.
The high level of specialization of the clinic staff allows the development of significantly difficult and complex surgical procedures of various types of cancer, such as abdominal recurrences, sarcomas etc.
Indicatively, the following are mentioned:
Upper Gastrointestinal Tract Surgery
- Laparoscopic / Robotic restoration of Hiatal Hernia and Gastroesophageal Reflux (Fundoplasty)
- Laparoscopic / Robotic Gastric surgery (benign and malignant diseases)
- Laparoscopic / Robotic Surgery for disorders of the small intestine and for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis)
Lower Gastrointestinal Tract Surgery: Colon and Rectum
- Colorectal Cancer
- Diverticulitis
- Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis
- Colon Prolapse
Anal Surgery
Hemorrhoids, perianal abscess, perianal fistula, anal fissure
Currently, they are operated with minimal trauma and post-operative pain, but also with minimization of complications and relapses with endoscopy, LASER or ultrasound use. The patient stays one day in the hospital and returns to his day-to-day activities almost immediately.
Pilonidal Cyst
In particular, pilonidal cyst is treated by specialized methods, as appropriate, avoiding major injuries and daily changes, endoscopically or using LASER, but also with a flap when extremely large or when other techniques.
Liver - Bile Duct - Pancreas - Spleen Surgery
- Laparoscopic / Robotic Cholecystectomy, Ultrasound and Investigation of Bile Duct
- Pancreatic Tumor Surgery
- Laparoscopic / Robotic Splenectomy
Laparoscopic / Robotic Surgery of Abdominal Wall Hernias
- Umbilical Hernia
- Inguinal Hernia
- Femoral Hernia
