Educational Work and Medical Theses
Professor Papadopoulos, worked in Academic Surgical Units in most of his carrier and have an extended Educational work at a Hellenic and International level for Undergraduate and Postgraduate trainees from 1981 to 2021. He has substantially contributed in creating Educational Environment at his work places and beyond.
Indicatively, he participated in more than 18 Medical Theses at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
He participated in research study related to Undergraduate Medical Education and Training in the Greek Medical Schools.
He Organized two International Seminars on ‘Key issues in Medical Education’, at ‘Attikon’ University General Hospital in Athens, in 2010 and 2012.
He participated as Educator / ATLS Instructor, teaching in 20 seminars the ‘Advanced Trauma Life Support Program’ of the American College of Surgeons.

Professor Papadopoulos, is practicing General Surgery focusing on Surgical Oncology.
Professor Papadopoulos was Director / Consultant of the D’ Surgery Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, at the ‘Attikon’ University General Hospital of Athens, 2017 – 2018.
During his carrier (1992 to 2018) as a staff member of the D’ Department of Surgery of the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens has practiced a wide range of major surgical procedures.
During his Postgraduate Surgical Education and Training in Britain (1985 to 1991) worked in NHS units with increased surgical practice in the fields of Surgical Oncology of the Gastrointestinal tract, as in gastric and oesophageal cancer, the surgical oncology of the large bowel and rectum cancer, the surgical oncology of the breast, in the fields of
laparoscopic surgery, and the emergency surgery.
He initiated his Surgical Education and Training program at the B’ Surgical Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Aretaieion Hospital in Athens 1981 to 1984.
Clinical Focus in Surgical Practice
Professor Papadopoulos has a wide experience in gastrointestinal surgical oncology as in Gastric cancer and oesophageal cancer surgery and D2-Lymphadenectomies, in the Colon and rectum cancer surgery with total mesorectal excisions and ultra-low anastomoses, anal canal surgery, pancreatic surgery, sentinel-lymph node and lymphadenectomies for
malignant melanoma, sentinel-lymph node and lymphadenectomies for breast cancer, laparoscopic surgery, trauma, surgical infections and necrotizing soft tissue infections, and emergency surgery.
Clinical Audit and Quality Control
Professor Papadopoulos, favors good clinical practice. He has created 1). An electronic audit and research data-base, for auditing colon and rectum cancer surgery, and 2) An audit and research electronic registry to investigate Trauma management outcome, in Attica, Greece.
