Today, three 20-year-old Greek young patients, injured and bed-confined due to car accidents, fight their individual war and hope to improve their Quality of Life. Namely, they shall undergo an operation using grafts obtained from their nose. The procedure shall be performed by Portuguese Professor Carlo Lima and his Greek Associates Messrs D. Prokopakis and Ch. Gogos, neurosurgeons, at Metropolitan General Clinic. This medical case is of particular importance for our country, as physically disabled patients due to car accidents exceed 500,000, with 500 new patients added on an annual basis.

According to the method of Mr. Lima, stem cells are harvested from the patient’s own nose, which are then transplanted in the spinal lesion to promote nervous tissue refunctioning.

The renowned Portuguese Professor, along with specialized teams of local surgeons, has organized more than one hundred cases worldwide. Restoration-physiotherapy is a key component, both pre- and post-operatively.

It should be noted that Professor Carlo Lima has been studying this method for over 18 years, 2001 being the year he first ever applied it.

In our country, the highly-esteemed Professor Carlo Lima has entered into partnership with Metropolitan General. His direct assistants shall be Messrs D. Prokopakis and Ch. Gogos, who shall be present during the first procedures to be executed in Metropolitan General. These surgeries are highly delicate, require physicians in two specialties (ENTs and Neurosurgeons), and, globally, are performed under the direct supervision of the Portuguese Professor.
