“Diabetes: a holistic approach” is the title of the speech jointly organized by the Soroptimistic Club of Nea Smyrni and Metropolitan General on Wednesday 16 March at 19:00 in the Events Hall of “AMALIA” Hotel, 10, Amalias av., downtown Athens.

According to the current data, more than one million people suffer from Diabetes Mellitus in Greece, a rate corresponding to 12% of the general population. Diabetes is frequently undiagnosed for many years, either because it’s asymptomatic or because most of its symptoms are not evaluated. Early diagnosis is quite significant, as it timely prevents several complications and risks induced by the disease, such as cardiac diseases, renal failure, liver disease, and angiopathy.

The Rapporteur of the Event shall be Professor Mr. Vasileios Golematis, Chair of Metropolitan General Scientific Board. The Moderator of the Event shall be Mr. Stelios Grigorakis, Endocrinologist, Scientific Director of the Department of Endocrinology at Metropolitan General. Other speakers include Mrs. Evdokia Petropoulou, Cardiologist, Mrs. Aggeliki Bleta, Nephrologist, Chief of the Dialysis Unit, Mr. Dimitris Karagiannakis, Hepatologist, Mr. Panagiotis Petrovas, Vascular Surgeon, Scientific Director of the Department of Vascular Surgery, and Mr. Vasilis Maniatis, Radiologist, Chief of the Department of Medical Imaging.

It should be mentioned that Metropolitan General offers comprehensive diabetes mellitus management, with physicians in all medical specialties and no undue delays and long waiting lists.
