To celebrate International Pathology Day, in cooperation with the Hellenic Society of Pathology (HSP), the Pathology Laboratory at Metropolitan General is holding a free public open information event on the role of the pathologist in diagnosis, prevention and targeted disease treatment, on Wednesday 15 November 2017, 11.00-12.00, at the Event Hall of the Clinic.

During the event, the visitors will have the chance to meet the physicians behind the microscope in person, see what they see, learn how microscopic images are interpreted, and witness how histological findings lead to the final diagnosis upon which the treatment decision is based. Our experienced scientific staff will answer visitors any questions they may have, and explain the steps involved in a biopsy, from specimen reception to final diagnosis.

Pathology may fall under “lab specialties”, but in fact it is a clinical-laboratory specialty. Most inpatients neither know of nor do they meet a pathologist in person, despite the fact that a pathologist closely cooperates with physicians in other specialties and provides diagnosis, as well as valuable information on choosing the applicable treatment.

The participation in the event is free of charge.
