Metropolitan General, faithful to its commitment for continuous upgraded provided services, improved its Artificial Kidney Unit to a great extent. Namely, the Unit now extends to ultramodern facilities in a specially designed ward, featuring new cutting-edge medical equipment and renovated existing infrastructures.

The Artificial Kidney Unit (hemodialysis) at Metropolitan General, one of the largest hemodialysis units in the country, can serve up to 180 patients. It offers comprehensive therapeutic approach for all renal diseases according to the strictest international quality and hygiene standards. It has a special Department of Plasmapheresis with a cutting-edge double filtration plasmapheresis equipment for the therapeutic management of immunological and hematological conditions.

This specially designed ward has bright and spacious areas, two large hemodialysis rooms, separate hemodialysis unit for Hepatitis B patients-carriers (HBV), a special Operating Room for minor surgical procedures, waiting area and canteen for both patients and their escorts. The Unit is also equipped with fully electric adjustable beds and chairs, individual TV sets, free wi-fi access and offers a light meal to the patients.

The Unit applies all types of hemodialysis; classic hemodialysis, hemodiafiltration and online hemodiafiltration. It accommodates high-end medical equipement, and runs a 24-hour emergency service.

Operating within the premises of Metropolitan General, the Artificial Kidney Unit (hemodialysis) comprises physicians in all specialties on a 24/7 basis, and is duly supported by the Diagnostic-Imaging Labs of the Hospital. The Blood Donation Center can respond to every need that may arise for blood transfusion, while the Intensive Care Unit ensures timely management of all emergencies.
