The Clinic specializes in minimally invasive procedures of major joints (hip, knee, shoulder), with a high surgical volume (approximately 500 procedures per year).
Specifically for the hip, it is a Certified Reference Center for AMIS Hip Arthroplasty using the AMIS technique (minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty– anterior approach). Using the same technique, as well as conventional methods, partial or total revision of hip arthroplasties are also performed.
In addition, reconstructive hip procedures are performed using a mini-open anterior approach with arthroscopic assistance, including labral repair/removal, femoral head-neck osteoplasty (cam lesion resection), and removal of loose bodies such as in synovial chondromatosis. Finally, biological therapies are applied in early osteoarthritis, including injections of stem cells and growth factors (PRP).
Additionally, the Clinic performs a high volume of minimally invasive knee surgeries, such as medial/lateral unicompartmental knee arthroplasties, navigation-assisted total knee arthroplasties, as well as total knee arthroplasties using custom-made cutting guides.
Furthermore, the team has received training and certification from educational centers in the United States for the use of robotic systems in hip and knee arthroplasty with minimally invasive (MIS) techniques.
In addition, specialized shoulder procedures are performed, including reverse total shoulder arthroplasty and arthroscopic procedures.
Shoulder arthroscopy, as well as knee arthroscopy (anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using the all-inside technique, meniscal repair/partial meniscectomy, cartilage restoration procedures), are performed exclusively using a latest-generation arthroscopy tower of American technology by Arthrex, featuring 4K resolution, radiofrequency (RF), and advanced equipment.
Upper Limb and Reconstructive Microsurgery Clinic
Comprehensive diagnostic evaluation is provided for all upper limb conditions (full medical history, clinical examination, and imaging assessment in collaboration with a specialized Radiologist of the Clinic). Treatment planning, either conservative or surgical, is carried out by the Unit’s Surgeons and Physiatrist, along with physiotherapy management provided by the Clinic’s state-of-the-art physiotherapy department.
The treatments offered cover the entire spectrum of upper limb conditions. Specifically:
- Shoulder arthroplasty for arthritis:
- Anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty and hemiarthroplasty using an innovative MIS technique (subscapularis-sparing, via the rotator cuff interval) with rapid recovery
- Reverse shoulder arthroplasty and surface hemiarthroplasty for younger patients
- Elbow arthroplasty
- Management of wrist and hand arthritis – joint replacement
- Fractures and ligament injuries of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand
- Shoulder arthroscopy for soft tissue conditions (tendon tears, instability/recurrent dislocations, impingement syndromes, calcific tendinitis, frozen shoulder, etc.)
- Sports injuries of the upper limb
- Tendon transfers
- Compressive neuropathies (ulnar neuritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc.)
- Traumatic amputations of fingers and hand – replantation
- Tendon, nerve, and vascular injuries
- Management of avascular necrosis of carpal bones (e.g., scaphoid necrosis)
- Hand tumors
- Congenital hand deformities
- Hand infections
- Dupuytren’s disease
- PRP, stem cell, and pharmacologic injections under ultrasound guidance by a collaborating Radiologist
- Design of physiotherapy, kinesiotherapy, and exercise programs, with follow-up by a Physiatrist
