We would like to inform you that you will undergo an examination (scintigraphy) for diagnostic purposes in the Nuclear Medicine.
For this purpose, a radiopharmaceutical will be administered to you intravenously (mainly) or, more rarely, orally. Although the radiation dose of the radiopharmaceutical is low, it will remain in your body for a certain period of time. Therefore, the instructions that will be given to you must be followed carefully, so that people other than the person being examined are not unnecessarily exposed to radiation.
- Women who are going to undergo the examination should inform the department staff if there is any possibility of pregnancy or if they are breastfeeding.
- All the following recommendations should be followed more strictly when younger people are in your immediate environment, especially women of reproductive age.
