At Metropolitan General the following interventional diagnostic procedures are performed:
- Stereotactic Biopsy - Innovative interventional method of diagnostic biopsy of suspicious, non-palpable breast lesions, without surgery
- Fine-needle aspiration for cytological examination (FNA)
- Core biopsy - Percutaneous, bloodless needle biopsy with or without ultrasound guidance
- Preoperative localization of non-palpable breast lesions with a wire guide using mammography or ultrasound. Specifically, a wire guide is placed inside the breast in order to accurately localize the lesion, subsequently facilitating the surgeon in its removal.
- Puncture, aspiration of cysts and culture of fluid from abscesses, in collaboration with the Clinic’s Microbiology Laboratory
- Cytological examination of material from the breast
In collaboration with the Clinic’s Histopathology Laboratory, a rapid and valid histological diagnosis is ensured.
