The 5th Urology Clinic provides services across the full spectrum of modern urology, including the management of benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer using robotic surgery, diagnosis and treatment of all types of urological cancer, and urolithiasis. It also manages all andrological conditions, such as male infertility, erectile dysfunction, as well as diseases of the penis (e.g., Peyronie’s disease) and the urethra. The Clinic’s physicians are fully trained and utilize the most advanced technology available.
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia / TURis
For the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, we use the most advanced available method, TURis, which enables transurethral resection of the prostate with minimal hospitalization and high effectiveness.
Robotic Surgery
Robotic prostatectomy is the most advanced surgical method for the treatment of prostate cancer, due to the short hospital stay, extremely low intraoperative blood loss, and excellent outcomes in urinary continence and preservation of erectile function. These advantages are attributed to the capabilities of the Da Vinci robotic system, which provides superior visualization of the surgical field and high precision in surgical manipulation. As a result, patients achieve very high rates of optimal outcomes following prostatectomy, including excellent oncological results, urinary continence, and preservation of erectile function.
Andrology
The Clinic has a high level of specialization in Andrology, as its Director is the President of ANDYPO (Andrology–Infertility Section) of the Hellenic Urological Association. Therefore, all andrological conditions are managed effectively, including penile diseases, erectile dysfunction, and male infertility.
More specifically, we perform penile prosthesis implantation, treatment of Peyronie’s disease with or without grafting techniques, and management of urethral strictures either endoscopically or with grafts. In the field of male infertility, we apply all modern pharmacological treatments as well as advanced techniques for the management of azoospermia using microscopy (micro-TESE), achieving a sperm retrieval rate of 30% in men previously considered azoospermic, consistent with international outcomes. Additionally, we utilize modern microsurgical techniques, considered the international gold standard, for the treatment of varicocele, one of the most common causes of male infertility.
Urolithiasis
We manage all forms of kidney, ureteral, and bladder stone disease using minimally invasive/endoscopic techniques and laser. With the use of modern flexible ureterorenoscopes, stone disease can be treated throughout the entire urinary tract, often with short-term hospitalization, while larger stones are managed percutaneously with a brief hospital stay.
Oncology
All urological cancers (kidney, bladder, etc.) are treated surgically using minimally invasive methods (such as robotic surgery, endoscopic techniques, and cryotherapy), tumor excision in cases of solitary renal tumors, or radical procedures such as radical cystectomy with the creation of an orthotopic neobladder, allowing near-normal daily activity without the need for a urostomy.
