At Metropolitan General, as in every fully organized Clinic, a Pulmonology Department operates within the Internal Medicine Sector and covers the full range of activities related to diseases of the respiratory system.
The Pulmonology Department includes:
- Regular Outpatient Clinic, which provides the possibility of:
- Clinical follow-up of chronic respiratory diseases, often with fluctuating symptoms.
- In-hospital support.
- Pulmonary Function Testing Laboratory, whose equipment allows the investigation and clinical assessment of: obstructive syndromes (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma), restrictive syndromes (pulmonary fibrosis, chest wall diseases, neuromuscular diseases, etc.), interstitial lung diseases.
For the investigation of the above syndromes, measurement of dynamic and static lung volumes, as well as the diffusing capacity of the lungs, is available. - Sleep Study Laboratory for the investigation of sleep apnea syndromes.
- Bronchoscopy Laboratory, which provides the possibility of performing bronchoscopies and obtaining endobronchial and transbronchial biopsies, TBNA, bronchial washings (washing), brushings (brushing), as well as bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL).
- Pulmonology Clinics with specialized physicians for the comprehensive management of pulmonological conditions.
