The 4th Surgical Clinic was purposefully established, following the standards of corresponding clinics in major centers abroad, by Dr. Dimitrios S. Mousiolis and Dr. Emmanouil A. Tsigos, two specialized general surgeons and their team, with the aim, on the one hand, of covering the entire spectrum of the field of modern General Surgery (with particular emphasis on minimally invasive methods) and, on the other hand, of providing fully specialized treatment for surgical diseases of the thyroid and endocrine glands, the rectum and the perianal region.
Specialized units operating under the 4th Surgical Clinic are the Center for Thyroid and Endocrine Gland Surgery and the Center for Minimally Invasive - Endoscopic Surgery of the Rectum and Anus.
The Center for Thyroid and Endocrine Gland Surgery treats all benign and malignant diseases of the thyroid gland, the parathyroid glands and the adrenal glands for which surgical intervention is required as part of their therapeutic approach, as well as all intraperitoneal neuroendocrine oncological diseases.
The Center for Minimally Invasive - Endoscopic Surgery of the Rectum and Anus has been established and appropriately developed with the aim of utilizing the most modern and minimally invasive methods for the surgical treatment of diseases of the rectum and the perianal region.
The therapeutic approach to every condition, oncological or otherwise, is always based on current international guidelines and on the use of the most advanced and modern technological means.
The high level of specialization and the excellent collaboration of the physicians of the 4th Surgical Clinic with related specialties ensure an optimal therapeutic outcome, applying personalized treatment methods according to the requirements of each patient’s condition.
At the 4th Surgical Clinic, all conditions within the field of General Surgery are treated using open, laparoscopic and robotic approaches.
