At Metropolitan General, an Anesthesiology Department operates to meet the needs of the Clinic.
In particular, a specialized anesthesiologist is available for the management of emergency cases, such as cardiac arrest, placement of central venous lines, etc. In addition, a second specialized anesthesiologist covers the needs of patient transport with ambulance vehicles. According to the protocols and operating procedures of the Clinic, each surgeon has the freedom to choose an anesthesiologist either from the existing staff or from new collaborators. To become a collaborator, an application must be submitted to the Administration along with the required documentation and, following the approval of the Scientific Council and the Department coordinators.
The Anesthesiology Department is able to cover all types of cases from all surgical specialties and also provides postoperative monitoring.

- Administration of all forms of anesthesia, such as neuroleptic anesthesia, general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, spinal anesthesia and epidural anesthesia
- Continuous postoperative monitoring of the patient, control of postoperative pain through the application of all relevant modern protocols, and regulation of all biological parameters of operated patients
- Specialized unit for the investigation and management of pain using modern methods and techniques
- Specialized anesthesiologic procedures supporting treatment in patients with various diseases through individualized therapies, such as nerve plexus blocks, epidural injections, etc.
- Application of methods and techniques to reduce blood loss during surgical procedures, as well as perioperative blood salvage using cell-saving techniques
