The Ophthalmology Department of Metropolitan General applies pioneering, minimally invasive, painless and effective eye treatments lasting only a few minutes, using the latest-generation lasers, including:
• SLT Laser (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty) for the treatment of open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. This is an advanced, non-thermal and non-invasive laser capable of reducing intraocular pressure associated with glaucoma. It is as effective as medical therapy, without the side effects and compliance issues of long-term eye drop use.
The Department also features a latest-generation digital angiography system, O.C.T-Angio, for the diagnosis and management of macular diseases and fundus disorders, providing high-resolution images and high diagnostic accuracy. It also allows detailed recording of glaucomatous changes for timely and appropriate management.
Additional state-of-the-art equipment includes ophthalmic ultrasonography (UBM), digital fluorescein angiography, corneal topography, electrophysiology systems and an endothelial cell microscope.
Advanced surgical procedures
Specialized ophthalmic and orbital surgeries are performed using modern techniques. The cutting-edge medical equipment includes the latest model Stellaris PC Next Generation surgical system for vitreoretinal, cataract and glaucoma procedures.
