With people at the heart of its mission and an ongoing commitment to ensuring equal access to healthcare services, HYGEIA Hospital continues to actively pursue its social contribution by implementing prevention and outreach initiatives in areas of Greece where the need for specialised medical care remains high.
As part of the Hellenic Healthcare Group’s “PANTOU” Corporate Social Responsibility programme, this year’s mission travelled to Lemnos on 20 and 21 June, offering free medical services to the island’s residents. The initiative was hosted at the 2nd Primary School of Myrina and was organised under the coordination of HYGEIA Hospital. The mission comprised 28 physicians representing 20 medical specialties, as well as 32 volunteers from the nursing, technical and administrative staff.
At the same time, free haematological and biochemical tests were carried out for adults and children, along with general ultrasound examinations, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, Pap tests, gynaecological ultrasound examinations and spirometry tests. The response from local residents was particularly warm, with more than 780 people examined and over 3,500 medical and diagnostic examinations performed, confirming the necessity and value of such initiatives.
As part of the preventive screening carried out, cases requiring further medical investigation and care were identified. HYGEIA will undertake the follow-up and care of these patients free of charge, providing tangible confirmation of its longstanding social role and its commitment to equal access to healthcare.
Mr Andreas Kartapanis, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HYGEIA, stated: “The ‘PANTOU’ programme is not merely a Corporate Social Responsibility programme; it is the driving force that enables us to reach the places where there is a genuine need. Lemnos represents another milestone in this journey of giving, with the aim of promoting prevention, early diagnosis and equal access to high-quality healthcare services for all. I would like to express my warmest thanks to the physicians, our volunteers and, of course, the residents for their trust and warm welcome.”
The Mayor of Lemnos, Ms Eleonora Georga, stated: “On behalf of the local community of Lemnos, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to HYGEIA and the HHG Group, as well as to the physicians and volunteers who took part in the initiative. With a high degree of professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility, they provided valuable prevention and care services to the residents of our island. The high level of public participation highlights the importance of such initiatives for island and remote areas.”
The “PANTOU” Corporate Social Responsibility programme has now become firmly established as an enduring institution of social contribution, consistently reflecting the philosophy and people-centred character of the Hellenic Healthcare Group (HHG). With an unwavering focus on care, quality and respect, we continue to stand by our fellow citizens in every part of Greece.
