Multiple Sclerosis & Special Neurological Therapy Center at Metropolitan General is a special clinic dedicated to multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Even though it mostly affects young and active people, Multiple Sclerosis may be controlled in the long run with applicable therapy and proper monitoring, so that patients continue to be functional and enjoy a better quality of life, to the extent possible.
The Center applies all current therapies, disease-modifying and symptomatic, which are approved in the Northern America and Europe. At the same time, specialized treatments, such as immunotherapies, plasmaphereses, immunosuppression, etc., are also performed.
It is staffed by specialized physicians holding extensive experience in MS patients of everytype and severity. The specialists are immediately updated on the latest advances on a global basis, participating in international and local conventions, while they are active members of international and Greek scientific associations.
Apart from the current applied therapies, the Center conducts research undertaking therapeutic protocols, even early-phase ones. The Center’s physicians hold multiyear experience in the development and realization of such research therapeutic protocols in a large pool of patients.
Metropolitan General’s Multiple Sclerosis & Special Neurological Therapy Center utilizes Metropolitan General’s huge potential for the carrying out of specialized diagnostic tests, given the Hospital accommodates full infrastructure, comprising Medical Imaging and Biopathology Laboratories (MRI, Interventional Neuroradiology, Central Laboratories, Cardiology). The Departments of Plasmapheresis and Physiotherapy at Metropolitan General, as well as “Filoktitis”, the Recovery & Rehabilitation Center of Metropolitan Group, fully support the Center in the complete management of specific problems encountered by MS patients.
The objective of this specialized Center, combined with Metropolitan Group’s multifacet potential, is to become a scientific unit of reference in the field of MS, with a view to provide comprehensive and top quality services.
