The Doctor and the staff
The director of the clinic, Dr. Athanasios Desalermos, graduate from the medical department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens went on to specialize in one of the largest gastrointestinal and hepatic centers of the United States, the University of California, San Diego. He then founded and ran his own gastroenterology and hepatology clinic in the US, as well as being appointed Assistant Professor of gastroenterology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Currently he holds a seat as attending physician at the Cambridge Hospital in Boston, US, one of the teaching hospitals of Harvard University, where he maintains and runs his gastroenterology and hepatology clinic, seeing hundreds of cases yearly and performing demanding procedure. His medical team is active in the field of research, particularly that of idiopathic inflammatory bowel diseases, a field in which Dr. Desalermos is notably very experienced due to his three year long involvement in the clinic of idiopathic inflammatory bowel diseases of the world renowned Dr. Sandborn at the University of California, San Diego, which acts as a global academic reference point for these diseases. In addition, his medical team has published a series of medical research papers on the topic of idiopathic inflammatory bowel diseases in many accredited journals in the field of gastroenterology. Lastly, he continues to collaborate with large academic centers of the US such as Mayo Clinic, Brown University, Βeth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Cambridge Hospital. Due to his long-standing experience, his handling of difficult and rare cases and completion of thousands of surgical procedures, the doctor and his team can guarantee a high quality of medical care.
